HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Hair transplantation: Hair Loss or Alopecia has always been a concern for men or women. Male pattern hair loss is usually due to the influence of levels of hormones. Women’s patterned hair loss may be caused by menopause as the female hormones decrease. The most important and common reason for getting a hair transplant is that these persons want to feel confident and look younger again as they were prior to hair loss & to regain self-confidence.Hair loss is extremely common nowadays and is emerging as an alarming issue in the society. The various causes for hair loss are heredity, altered and stressful lifestyle, hormonal imbalance, medications, chemotherapy / radiation treatment for cancer patients and prolonged uncontrolled illnesses like thyroid disease, severe infection, etc.Hair loss leads to dramatic change in personality with strong desire to seek treatment.
Hair Transplantation is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. In this surgery grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding from the back or the sides of the scalp (donor site) are harvested & transplanted to the balding part of the head known as the recipient site. It is also used to restore eyelashes, eyebrows, and beard hair, and to fill in scars caused by accidents and surgery such as face-lifts and cleft lip repairs. It is an outpatient procedure performed under local anaesthesia. This most innovative and effective method of Hair Transplantation is known as Microscopic Follicular Unit Hair Transplant. Nearly 90 to 95% of the follicles are capable of living and grow healthily after being transplanted if the procedure is done correctly.
Since hair naturally grows in follicles that contain groupings of 1 to 4 hairs, today’s most advanced techniques transplant this naturally occurring 1–4 hair “follicular units” in their natural groupings. Hence modern hair transplantation can achieve a natural appearance. This newer hair transplant procedure is called Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Plastic surgeons can determine who is a good candidate for a Hair Transplant. It all depends on the extent of the hair loss and the amount of hair available in the donor area. Patients will recover within a day or two after the surgery. Mega session and gig session, transplanting highest number of grafts is now routinely done giving dramatic change of self-image & confident look. Donor hair can be harvested in two very different ways;.
FUE Harvesting
(Follicular Unit Extraction) : In this technique individual follicles of hair are removed under local anaesthesia, this micro removal uses tiny punches. Each follicle is then reinserted back into the scalp in the bald or thinned area using a needle or micro blade for making slits. If the patient is completely shaved the scars will look like miniature dots spread in the back of the head. Because these are single follicles and no large amount of tissue is removed there are no visible linear scars after surgery. Also there are no stitches to remove. Recovery from FUE is within 7 days. Hair growth will take between three to five months after the surgery. The hair will grow thin initially, then, it will continuously grow thicker and fuller. After a year the transplanted hair will continue to grow for a lifetime. Hair restoration of the scalp following burns present a unique problem but can be reconstructed.
Male Hair Transplant
Hair Loss in men has been rampant in recent years. Losing hair is a natural activity and about 85% of hair is active and in the growing phase (anagen) and the rest 15% is in the resting phase (telogen). Thus you tend to lose about 100 hairs every day and that is quite normal. And this also shows that hair loss is actually quite paradoxical, you lose hair to grow more. But there are times when you will lose more hair and you will also seem to notice that you lose hair in patches and also your hair starts to grow thin. But even this can be explained when it happens within a short time, it may be because you had a fever or else there was an infection which caused the temporary shock and your body will recover within 3 or 4 weeks after the cause subsides.
The most common cause of hair fall in men is genetic. If you notice that your parents or your relatives lose hair, then it is quite plausible that you would too and which could develop into Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA).
Cicatricial (or scarring) Alopecia can also be a probable cause. In this case, your immune system starts attacking hair follicles causing them to shrink and turn dormant, thus the production of new hair doesn’t happen. If this happens then immunosuppressants are used. But other techniques like minoxidil and mesotherapy have also shown good results.
But if none of these works then for men it is best to undergo a Hair Transplant. This technique boosts hair growth and also takes hair from your own scalp which is stronger (for that reason scaling is done) and then they are removed from that area (called the donor area) and transplanted into areas that require hair (recipient area).
The benefits of undergoing a Hair Transplant are: More hair can be grown in a smaller amount of time.
One time solution and not solutions in parts.
Boosts self-confidence as hair is a marker of youth.
Success rates are higher and result in more visibility.
Female Hair Transplant
Hair fall in men has been present since times old, but women are presented in folklore and in art as having beautiful flowing hair. Hair fall in their case is drastic and can lead to a lack of confidence and severe psychological distress. Thus it is very important for women to undergo hair transplantation if the hair fall becomes severe.
Usually, in women, the causes of hair fall are Traction Alopecia or Cicatricial or due to trauma and also genetics are altered thus causing hormonal imbalances.
Usually, women are said to use Minoxidil 5% foam solution and it has shown to provide good results for them. And if the menstruation cycle is ongoing then it is suggested that they shouldn’t take medications that can stop hormonal change because it has shown to cause some side effects.
There are numerous causes of hair loss in women, including:
1.Androgenetic alopecia is brought on by genetic factors.
2.medication-induced hair loss or hormonal abnormalities such as thyroid conditions or menstrual issues.
3.Pregnancy
4.PCOD/PCOS
5.cancer treatment Iron deficiency
6.Stress
7.even losing weight can result in hair loss.
Hair Transplant for women is easier and better because their donor area hair grades are relatively higher as compared to men and thus their grafts once inserted stay for a long time. FUT and FUE any of these procedures can be used but FUE of these procedures can be used but FUE has shown to be slightly more effective. Hair Free and Hair Grow is the best option available for women to get their hair regrowth as soon as possible.
Eyebrow Hair Transplant & Microblading
Eyebrows form an integral part of the face in making a person look beautiful. However in some people eyebrows can be lost(partial or complete hair loss) due to certain medical or congenital causes. But nowadays anybody can have a perfectly arched eyebrow look with the help of eyebrow restoration procedure. This procedure provides a permanent solution to the client as thin hairs from back of the scalp are used in this procedure which gives a natural look. This procedure is virtually painless and requires only a week for the recovery. The hair of the hairline at the periphery of the scalp are fine with thinner calibre stimulating the eyebrow hair. Hence an area of scalp near the ears or nape of neck is chosen as the donor area.
The complete procedure is done under local anaesthesia. On an average at least 100-250 single hair grafts are needed on each side depending on the area involved by using a smaller diameter 0.700.8 mm punch. For the placement of grafts slits are made keeping the hair direction and angulation in mind. The growth of hair takes about 6-8 months. achieving the find result by layer. This technique does not leave any scar.
Cost of hair transplant
cost of hair transplant depends upon the area to be covered type of transplant technique, patient condition, associated complications, etc.
Usually a session of hair transplant starts from Rs 20000 and can go upwards depending upon grade of baldness and and hair loss.
